Noise is not just a nuisance but a health, safety and
environmental hazard that has to be managed.
Noise at work can cause irreversible hearing damage and accelerate
the normal hearing loss which occurs as people get older. In
addition, it can cause other problems such as tinnitus, interference
with communication and stress. For these reasons, the Noise at Work
Regulations place responsibility on employers to control noise
levels. The use of Belesta in plant and machinery can significantly
contribute towards reducing noise output.
Noise in the environment can also be a problem and increasingly
Environmental Health Officers are imposing penalties on companies
which fail to meet maximum permitted noise levels.
The use of Belesta lubricant and greases in this extractor fan
brought about a 6% reduction in noise output helping the operators
to achieve boundary consent levels set by Local Authority planners.
