Belesta - Reducing Power Consumption
Climate Change Levy
From the 1st April, 2001 the cost of energy for non-domestic users rose by 8−16% due to the introduction of the climate change levy. This so called "energy tax" has been introduced by the UK Government to help Britain reduce carbon dioxide emission levels and play its part in meeting the targets set by the KYOTO Summit in 1997. Whilst the environmental objectives are important, this additional charge is disturbing news for businesses from the stand-point of maintaining competitiveness and profitability.
The reduction of power consumption by plant and machinery has never been more important than it is at the present time, therefore, and this is one of the most obvious and visible ways you can help save your company money, while at the same time helping to conserve the environment.
Where Belesta can help
The use of Belesta in the
lubrication system of most plant and equipment will cause a reduction in
power consumption of between 2 and 15%. For example, the addition of Belesta to the
lubrication system of a compressor such as this one will
typically bring about a 5−6% reduction in power consumption which along with
other energy saving measures could nullify the effect of the levy.
In addition, many facilities are restricted by limitations in power supply
into their facilities which can cause problems particularly at times of peak
usage of equipment. By reducing the amount of power required to run equipment
such problems can also be overcome.
